Our summer art programs are for teens who LOVE ART! We offer a variety of programs Grades 6 through 12, including College Portfolio Prep for High Schoolers who want to get a head start on their portolios.

teen summer intensives
Clay & Ceramics
grades 6+
If you want to learn more about clay and ceramics, this camp is for you! Students will learn traditional hand building skills used in constructing functional and sculptural ceramics. Each project will explore current and historical ceramic artists and how the projects connect and relate to each lesson. Students will have the opportunity to learn the basics of pottery hand building techniques such as pinching, coiling, slab building and sculpting decorations. Some of the artists and artworks that we will discuss may include: Peter Anton, Roberto Lugo, and Beatrice Wood or Historical artists/ceramic works exhibited in Smithsonian, Alfred Ceramic Art Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Our young artists will learn:

- Basic pottery hand building techniques such as coils, slabs, score and slip, making shapes with hands
- Sculptural techniques (additive, subtractive, relief, sgraffito, water etching)
- Print making
- Transferring students sketches into tangible works of art
- Balancing weight distribution
- Simplifying shapes into forms

We will use Air Dry Amaco Clay, Clay modeling tools, and Banding wheels.

- Program is limited to maintain a supportive atmosphere
- Classes are taught by Miss Diana, a professional art instructor and owner of a ceramics business
- All materials are included
- Held outdoors in the beautiful Elderfields Preserve unless there’s inclement weather

Painting & Drawing
Middle & High School
Spend a week painting and drawing at our intensive art camp for Middle to High Schoolers. Artists will explore different painting and drawing techniques and mediums – a great intro into the fine arts.

Drawing & Cartooning
Grades 6-12

Experience a gem on Long Island
The Art Guild is located on the Elderfields Preserve in Manhasset/Port Washington on the Gold Coast of Long Island. Workshops take place in the oldest building in Nassau County, and we utilize the outdoor Preserve grounds offering our workshop attendees an wonderful artistic retreat. We are only 30 miles away from New York City (quick 30 minute train ride) and are local to fantastic restaurants and lodging.
