Art Studio Assistant

Sofia currently majors in Graphic Design and minors in Art History in a BFA program at Adelphi University and is projected to graduate in the Spring of 2025. She won two Arts & Writing Scholastic Awards in 2021 (a gold key and a silver key) for her drawings, with one being presented at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan. Sofia has been commissioning graphic design and artwork since 2019.

“I love walking into The Art Guild and immediately seeing the many talented artists working in classes and presenting their artwork in the gallery. It is a super friendly and welcoming environment to be a part of, especially as an artist.”

Her favorite mediums are gouache, pens, ink, and Photoshop.

A collaborative artist exhibition with the Helen Keller Services

The Art Guild is proud to present our collaborative artist exhibition with the Helen Keller Services, Seeing Differently: A Tactile Art Experience.” This exhibition showcases the creativity of DeafBlind artists, emphasizing their perception of the world and turning it into art. This immersive collection of artwork offers a sensory experience that highlights the importance of touch and texture in art and the personal expression that is shared through our hands. This exhibit invites you to explore the profound depths of “seeing differently” and the opportunity to engage with the art in new ways. Join us to experience the diverse and rich creativity that flourishes through different senses

Attendees of the exhibit will experience art from a new perspective – through your fingertips. This unique exhibit focuses on the sense of touch, where you can feel the shapes and textures that bring these creations to life. Each piece carries a unique narrative, created by DeafBlind and blind artists of Helen Keller Services. We invite you to PLEASE TOUCH the art!

The Selection Committee will review all entries and notify each artist as to the acceptance of the submitted work. High school students will be reviewed and judged separately. The Art Guild has the right, in its sole discretion, to choose which eligible entries will be accepted to be exhibited. All decisions are final. Artists whose work has been selected will be notified either by email OR on our website.

SIZE & FRAMING

Frame size must not exceed 30” on the longest side. Gallery wraps are acceptable, but must be at least 1” thick and must not exceed 30″ on the longest side.

It must be wired securely for hanging with screw eyes or D-rings to the frame, NOT the backboard. No sawtooth hangers, tape, strings.  We can wire for you for a $10 fee.

Work must be labeled on the back with the title, artist’s name, street address, phone number, and email.

Framing of your work must comply with the above OR IT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

SELLING YOUR ARTWORK
Artwork may be sold directly by the artist with a suggested donation of 20% of the selling price from the artist to The Art Guild. Note, however, that sales may not be made at the exhibition.

All work must remain on view for the duration of the exhibit.

LIABILITY & INSURANCE
The Liability Waiver on the entry form must be signed by the artist submitting images for consideration. It is the responsibility of the participating artist to insure or self-insure any work submitted for inclusion in this exhibit.

I wish to have The Art Guild of Port Washington, Inc., (“TAG”) consider my artwork for exhibition as indicated in this Registration Form, and I acknowledge that TAG has the right, in its sole discretion, to choose the artwork to be exhibited. I also acknowledge that unrelated business or other activities may or will take place at the exhibition location during the exhibition and I assume any risk associated with such activities. I further acknowledge that I have been notified that I should carry my own insurance to be protected against loss, theft or damage to my artwork. Juried Competition & Exhibition

Whether inspired by models, real-life situations, or imaginative realms, we seek artworks that convey the intricate interplay between beauty, strength, and vulnerability inherent in the human body.

The Art Guild is currently accepting submissions for emerging and established artists to participate in our juried competition and exhibition. Artists 18 and older are invited to submit artwork for consideration. All mediums are welcome, including but not limited to drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media. No portraits please.

with Max Ginsburg

January 9-11, 2024
9:30 – 4:00pm

Join this mastermind of an artist, who passionately gives to the craft for a 3 day workshop January 9-11, 2024!

Day 1. Oil Painting Head Studies or Portraits from Life (Male & Female Live models). In the first hour of the morning and the afternoon sessions I would paint a demonstration. The students would paint in the second two hours of the morning and afternoon sessions and I would critique their work individually.

Day 2. Oil Painting Nude Figure Study from Life (Female Live model). One pose all day. Demo by me for the first hour in am & pm. Then critique students’ work as on Day 1..

Day 3. Oil Painting Composition of Clothed Figure from Life (Live model). One pose all day. Same procedure as on Day 2.

About Max Ginsburg

Ginsburg’s paintings are in many museums and private collections including The Butler Institute of American Art, The New Britain Museum, The Washington County Museum of Fine Art, The Society of Illustrators Museum, The Art Renewal Center Collection, The Salmagundi Club, The Hospital Workers Union 1199 and other public institutions.

He exhibited his fine art from 1953 to the present. From 1980 – 2004 he painted illustrations commissioned by the major publishing companies.

Ginsburg taught art over 60 years:

1960 – 1982 at The High School of Art & Design (NYC).

1984 – 2000 at The School of Visual Arts (NYC).

2008 – Ongoing: at The Art Students League of N.Y.

He has given many PAINTING FROM LIFE WORKSHOPS around the U.S. and abroad.

2020 – Ongoing: Online Painting Classes and Workshops

In 2011 he published his BOOK “MAX GINSBURG – RETROSPECTIVE.”

Over the years he exhibited and received many awards. The following are some of the more recent exhibitions and awards:
