To reserve a space, return the application with the $75.00 fee by July 11 if you wish to have a photo of your work included on the postcard,* or as soon as possible thereafter. This show will be filled on a “first come, first served” basis. Artists will have approximately 6 linear feet of wall space. All work to be hung must be original (no reproductions or giclees). Artists may also bring a few unframed works for display in print racks. This display can include reproductions/giclees of your work.
* The proposed design for the Works ’11 postcard and poster will include photographs of work by participating artists.

The color, content, contrast, subject or some other magical element
in your image will instantly capture the viewer’s eye and generate a
“Wow!” response. The “Boldness” in the image should be captured by
the camera and not primarily be the result of post-processing by the
photographer. Works to be included in this exhibition must be
available from August 29- September 25, 2011.
JUROR : Marcus Santos, is a New York City based photojournalist who actively shoots
humanitarian and breaking news. He is President of Images For Hope, a not-for-profit
organization supporting photography in relief missions, and his images often appear
on the covers of New York’s Daily News and Post.
AWARDS 1st Place – $300, 2nd Place – $200, 3rd Place – $100.
Student Award – Gift Certificate.
Honorable Mention certificates will also be awarded.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY • BEGINNER/ INTERMEDIATE
Ages 18-Adult, open to 12 students
4 Thursdays: July 14, 21; August 11, 18 • 7:00-9:30pm
Fee : $105 Members/$135 Non-members. (*photo field trip date to be decided.)
This class will introduce students to the basic principles of digital photography.
Topics will include: learning camera settings, composing images, developing
basic skills in manipulating images using editing software, and introduction
to self-critique approaches and strategies. Learning and self-advancement
will take place in a supportive, positive atmosphere. Digital camera is required.
Bring laptop if available, not required.

Continue using watercolor techniques of washes, wet on wet painting and
dry brush methods. We will move beyond the basics, creating a series of
more complex paintings. Completing our own interpretations of projects
presented in class. Some previous knowledge of watercolor recommended.

Watercolor is a truly diverse medium. Explore basic techniques of washes,
learn wet on wet painting, glazing and drybrush methods. We will begin to
understand the properties of pigments and when to use them properly.
Watercolor is always challenging, fresh and new. No experience necessary,
beginners welcome.
