The most important thing about painting, whether it’s oil, acrylic or watercolor, is the importance of basic drawing skills. In this mini session workshop, you will learn how to draw accurate proportions step-by-step, what you see and transfer onto paper, from start to finish. You will start with easy compositions to a more complicated setting, class will provide you with a few still-life images to work on. The first class will be an easy still-life drawing then move on to more complicated subjects.

Join us for an immersive workshop where you’ll learn to create a compelling Alla Prima Portrait in just one day. Under the expert guidance of Costa, you’ll observe a live model to understand how light interacts with the structures and forms of the head. Costa will walk you through the essentials of portrait painting, starting with the fundamentals. “I believe the key to successful portraiture is mastering the art of observation.” Developing strong drawing skills is one of the most essential components for creating a realistic portrait. Discover the most efficient methods for beginning a portrait, focusing on acute observation of warm and cool tones and the perception of subtle hue value changes to create the illusion of form. In this workshop you will learn the correct way of holding the Chinese calligraphy brush and guide you with the right stroke of writing in Traditional Chinese. Once you’ve mastered the stroke of writing I will teach you how to write the word “Love” and/or your name in Chinese. This workshop is for beginners.

2 Day Workshop

Christine is excited to share her secrets to painting the perfect beach day! All levels are welcome.  

The first day will begin with a beachscape demonstration. She will be providing reference photography from her collection. You are also welcomed to use special photos of your own, so with Summer around the corner start preparing your photos.
The second day we will dive into wave painting! Christine will share various approaches to creating a seascape that conveys light and joy. Her goal is for you to have fun and to take home fresh artwork that will keep you smiling and bring happiness all year long.

She will teach you the tips and tricks to creating a beautiful magazine collage with the subject of your choice! Tara will provide one on one assistance so that each artist will be able to confidently create a piece of art they love. Come with a few photos or inspiration for your piece.
