Chinese brush stroke Painting
Modern Ink Painting with Gan Yu!
Learning Chinese brush stroke painting involves mastering the art of creating expressive strokes with a brush and ink. It’s a meditative practice that emphasizes the flow and energy of the brush, focusing on capturing the essence of a subject rather than precise details.
This workshop will explore the modern ink-painting and its multiple layers of the meaning behind skills, styles, past traditions, and new technical contexts through the teacher’s demonstrations, students’ class practices, artwork presentations and critiques. In class, the instructor will introduce important key features in modern ink paintings, which consists of experimenting lines, ink washes, textures and special techniques to describe the shapes and characteristics of modern landscape and mixed-media paintings. Class often begins with a demonstration followed by time for individual practice and attention, allowing students to learn at their own pace. Through hands-on practice and fearless experimentation, this workshop aims to cultivate practical skills while instilling a sense of passion and vitality in every brushstroke. Participants will gain confidence in their artistic abilities as they engage with diverse techniques and unlock new dimensions of expression within the realm of modern ink painting.
By practicing these elements, you can develop your own unique style and create beautiful and meaningful works of art.
