Join us for our 10×10 Silent Art Auction Party & Fundraiser – our largest fundraising this year. The Art Guild is an invaluable asset to our community. Funds go toward providing classes to adults, children, & teens at below market value, maintaining our gallery and exhibitions, and free community events. As the area’s only community visual arts center, The Art Guild serves as a hub for artists, students and families. Please help us expand our offerings by supporting our efforts.

SUBMIT 10X10 FOR AUCTION

We provide the 10 x 10 cradled wood panel, you provide the artwork.

Any and all media may be used: acrylic, oil, watercolor, collage, photography, etc. Anything that can be done or mounted on the provided board is acceptable. Subject matter should be in good taste. The Art Guild reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to choose the artwork to be exhibited.

 

IMPORTANT DATES
DROP OFF: Artwork must be received by November 14. Please call for drop off times.

EXHIBIT DATES
Exhibit will be on view November 30 – January 2nd. Online silent bidding starts November 30 and ends December 6, 9:30. In person auction ends during our Reception. Remaining paintings will remain on view and will be available for purchase through January 6.

Preparing Cradled Panel for Art Work

The finished panel should be unframed.  However, care should be taken to keep the sides clean or paint them to give a finished look.  The Art Guild will wire the back for hanging.

 PAINTING WITH OIL OR ACRYLIC

  • Prior to painting, tape sides of panel if you do not expect to paint the sides.
  • Apply gesso to the wood panel. Lightly sand between coats.  Clear gesso will allow the wood grains to show.
  • To help protect the surface, apply to dry artwork a coat of retouch varnish for oils or acrylic varnish for acrylic.

 WATERCOLOR

  • Watercolor paper (140 lb suggested) can be adhered to the wood panel either prior to painting or afterwards using a soft gel medium (gloss or matte) to glue the paper to the surface.
  • Watercolor ground can be applied to the wood for painting directly on the panel without paper.
  • Varnish for watercolors can be applied to the finished work.

PASTEL

  • Adhere paper to panel using soft gel medium.
  • Apply fixative to finished artwork

PHOTOGRAPHY

  • Photographs can be adhered to panels using 3M scotch spray mount artists adhesive.
