Artists Reception and Awards Ceremony: September 11, 2016, 3-5pm

“Fur, Fins and Feathers” – More than just tributes to pets, animals in art often symbolize ideas from political to moral. From cave drawings to faithful companions, the noble steads of generals to Japanese fish prints and Audubon’s portfolios, animals of all kinds have “captured” the imagination of artists throughout history.

JUROR DENIS PONSOT is an artist with over 35 years of experience in   the field. He teaches classes in watercolor painting at the Art League of Long Island, The School of Visual Arts and the Jewish Community Center in Manhattan. Denis also teaches classes in watercolor and oil painting at the Gurwin Jewish Assistive Living Residences. During the school year, Denis teaches classes for all ages out of his private studio in Queens, NY. In the summer, his studio transforms into Denis Ponsot Fine Arts Summer Camp, where students gain experience in every medium from sculpture to collage. Denis’ work has been in exhibitions at the Art League of Long Island Members Exhibition and the Salmagundi Art Club non-member Juried Exhibition.
